Before Your First Appointment

What should I bring to my first session?

Bring along any relevant x-ray and scan results if you have them, your private health card (if you are a member), and a means of paying for your treatment – cash, credit/debit card or cheque.

What do I need to wear?

Depending on the area of your injury will depend on the appropriate clothing. It is advisable to wear something that can be easily moved to expose the problem area. If it is an injury to the lower limbs please ensure you bring shorts and for the upper limb, a singlet is recommended. At Hastings Sports Injury & Physiotherapy Centre your privacy and comfort will always be respected.

Is there plenty of parking and easy access?

Yes! We are located in the Hermitage Medical Centre where there is plenty of parking and easy access with no steps.

How long will my appointment be?

Allow 45 minutes for your initial appointment and 30 minutes for follow-up appointments. Your therapist will inform you if they may require slightly longer appointment time to achieve your best treatment outcomes.

Will I get a reminder for my upcoming appointment?

Yes! Once we have your mobile number in our system you will be sent a reminder for your upcoming appointment the day prior. If you cannot make the appointment for any reason it is up to you to call up and reschedule your appointment.


Services Provided

I’m going for an operation. Do you provide post-operative rehabilitation?

Yes! Our physiotherapist work alongside your surgeons to formulate a customised rehabilitation plan. Our physiotherapists also service the Medical Ward at the Private Hospital where they see patients day one post operation so you can be assured our therapists are the best in this area.

Referral Information

Do I need a referral from a Doctor to see a physiotherapist?

No! Physiotherapists are primary health practitioners, therefore private patients do not need a referral to see us.

I have a referral to another physiotherapist, can I come to Hastings Sports Injury & Physiotherapy instead?

Of course, you can! Bring in the referral to your first session and we will contact the referring doctor and inform them that you have commenced treatment with us.

Can I refer friends to Hastings Sports Injury & Physiotherapy Centre?

Yes, and please do.There is nothing more satisfying than helping out someone who is in need. By referring your friend or family to us you have just become part of their solution and they will be forever grateful for this. We will also be grateful for the opportunity to assist.


Payment and Insurance

Do you accept Worker’s Compensation and CTP claims?

Yes, however, if you are claiming your treatment through an insurance company it is advisable to see your GP to get a referral to Hastings Sports Injury & Physiotherapy Centre. If you already have a claim number please bring this and insurer details to your initial appointment.

Do you charge the gap on Medicare plans?

No! If you have a care plan from your doctor under Medicare we do not charge the gap.

What methods of payment do you accept?

Private patients must pay at the end of each session. We accept EFTPOS, Visa/Mastercard payments, cash and cheques.  Insurance claims will be billed directly to the insurance provider once all necessary claim numbers and information has been provided to us.

Can I claim private health insurance rebates?

Yes, and ON THE SPOT!  We use the HICAPs system to arrange direct funds transfer of your rebate, so bring your health fund card with you to your treatment.
